With the page turned vertically, Turner has drawn one bay of the octagonal structure; the study is continued on folio 27 verso opposite (D00755; Turner Bequest XXX 26a). Chichester’s Market Cross was built in 1501 by Bishop Story, in an ornate late Perpendicular style more usually associated with Salisbury or the West Country.
