The composition continues across folio 34 recto opposite (D01186; Turner Bequest XXXVII 69). The snow scene on folio 31 verso (D01181; Turner Bequest XXXVII 64) of this book is possibly a view at Lewisham; the other snow scenes are likely to have been made at the same time and perhaps in the same place. The British Museum curator Ann Forsdyke1 has suggested that the present drawing shows the road between Catford and Lewisham, with Lewisham Parish Church in the distance. The large building at the far right, however, seems to be a group of houses rather than a church.
