Compare the study on folio 19 recto (D00099). These very rough sketches are perhaps ideas for a title vignette or wrapper design for the ‘Twelve Views on the River Avon’ which Turner was planning; see introductory note to this sketchbook. There are some adventitious smears of blue and orange colour.
This page is not mentioned by Finberg in his 1909 Turner Bequest catalogue.1
