The subject is continued on folio 14 recto opposite (D01702; Turner Bequest XLII 27). The inscription at top right of that page confirms the evidence of the two stumpy towers visible beyond the shipping at the right, one of which may be the tower of St Mary Redcliffe Church, the other a large kiln. Both kiln and church tower appear in a watercolour of about 1802 by John Sell Cotman (1782–1842), St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol: Dawn (British Museum, London, 1859–528–117).1
