Made with the pages turned horizontally and continued on folio 41 recto opposite (D04044), this is a slight sketch connected with Turner’s preparations for the Ships Bearing Up for Anchorage (‘The Egremont Seapiece’) of 1802 (Tate T03868, on display at Petworth House, Sussex).1 See also folios 39 verso and 41 verso (D04041, D04045).
