The drawing was made with the page turned horizontally. For the context of the subject, see under folio 27 recto (D05104). A tentative identification as Scafell Pike, which Turner might have seen from the Honister Pass, south of Derwentwater, would argue for an implausibly indirect route for his journey south from Penrith to Windermere. It has been suggested that the drawing on folio 32 recto (D05109), shows Helvellyn from Patterdale, which would suggest a more easterly route along Ullswater and down to Ambleside; see folio 29 recto (D05106).
