The subject is continued on folio 9 recto (D03293). David Hill suggests1 that a watercolour in the British Museum, London, known as Mountain Study: A View in North Wales2 is related to this sheet. His proposal seems correct; Turner’s sketch was evidently made when he had descended Glenkinglas and was looking back towards Rest and Be Thankful, Beinn an Lochain (901 metres) and Ben Arthur (881 metres) to the right. The conical peak of Ben Lomond (974 metres) obscured by cloud, but is visible in the British Museum work.
