Made with the page turned horizontally, this note of part of the ruins, looking west, has more in common with the studies of Caernarvon in the contemporary Lancashire and North Wales sketchbook (Tate D01947, D01949, D01951; Turner Bequest XLV 24a, 25a, 26a).
