As Turner’s inscriptions indicate the sketches on this page represent various views along the coast near Sorrento. The second and fourth sketches from the top depict the headland of the Punta Capo da Sorrento to the west, whilst the third sketch from the top shows the smoking crater of Vesuvius visible in the distance beyond a steep, sheer cliff.
