Swiftly wrought, these sketches show the frontier town of Givet dominated by the Fort Charlemont (they continue on the opposite folio Tate D19667; Turner Bequest CCXVI 59). The Pont de Meuse and Tour Victoire can be seen in the upper and lowermost sketches.
