Helen SAUNDERS 1885–1963
Painter, mainly of still life. Born 4 April 1885 in Bedford Park, Ealing, Surrey. Studied at the Slade School 1906–7 and the Central School. Exhibited with the A.A.A. 1912, 1913 and 1916; was represented in the Twentieth Century Art exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery 1914 and contributed to the Vorticist exhibition 1915. She signed the Vorticist Manifesto in Blast, No.1, where her name appears as ‘H. Sanders’. Exhibited with the London Group 1916. After 1920 she changed to a naturalistic style and latterly exhibited with the Holborn Art Society. Died in Holborn, London, 1 January 1963.
