Ralph BROWN b. 1928
Sculptor, mainly of figures in action. Born 24 April 1928 in Leeds. Studied at Leeds College of Art 1948–51, Hammersmith School of Art 1951–2, and the R.C.A. under Dobson and Skeaping 1952–6; also studied in Paris under Zadkine in 1954. Won travelling scholarships to Greece and Italy 1955 and 1957 and Second Prize in the British Sculptors' Section at the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition 1959. First one-man exhibition at the Leicester Galleries 1961. Has taught sculpture at the R.C.A. since 1958. Commissioned to make sculptures for Harlow and Hatfield New Towns 1959–60.
