Trevor BELL b. 1930

Painter, mostly of abstract works. Born 18 October 1930 in Leeds. Studied at Leeds College of Art 1947–52; then taught at Harrogate School of Art 1953–5. Moved to Zennor, near St Ives, in 1955 on the advice of Terry Frost; began to paint non-figurative works there and became a member of the Penwith Society. First one-man exhibition at the Waddington Galleries 1958. Awarded an Italian Government Scholarship 1958–9 and one of the six main painting prizes at the Paris Biennale 1959; Gregory Fellow, Leeds University 1960.
