William McMILLAN b. 1887
Figure and monumental sculptor. Born 31 August 1887 in Aberdeen. Studied at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, and the R.C.A. under Lantéri 1908–12. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1917; A.R.A. 1925, R.A. 1935, Master of the R.A. Sculpture School 1929–40. Designed war memorials at Aberdeen and Manchester 1918; other works include statues of George V at Calcutta, George VI in The Mall, and Raleigh in Whitehall.
