There is a label on the stretcher of the Goupil Gallery (Boussod, Valadon and Co.), 5 Regent Street, London. This must refer to the period between 1893, when Goupil's moved to that address, and August 1905, when the London branch of Goupil was taken over by William Marchant and Co.
The view has not been identified but looks Italian. If so, then this picture was probably painted when the artist and her husband were in Italy between 1884 and 1888, most of the time in the neighbourhood of Pisa… (read more)
