This is the second print of Constable's Glebe Farm composition made by David Lucas
for English Landscape. It was engraved after the large version of the composition. Many copies of this image were made by other artists in the second half of the nineteenth century, mainly working from the engraving.

In 1836, the year before he died, Constable had stated to his biographer, CR Leslie, that his Glebe Farm composition was 'one of the pictures on which I rest my little pretensions to futurity'.
