Inscribed ‘19/25’ b.r. and ‘Victor Pasmore 72’ b.r.
Aquatint with etching, 78 x 36 (198 x 91.5) on paper, 90¼ x 38¿ (228.5 x 98) embossed ‘2RC’.
Purchased from Edizioni Grafiche, Rome (Grant-in-Aid) 1972.
The artist told the compiler on 31 July 1974 that ‘Abstract’ was the first very large print that he had made. A square companion etching—’Présence graphique: brown image’—was made at the same time. The edition was printed and published by Duerreci Edizioni Grafiche, Rome, who had supplied the plate. The only other prints made on this scale since then have been screenprints.
Published in The Tate Gallery Report 1972–1974, London 1975.
