Catalogue entry

For Egremont Castle and views from this sketchbook, otherwise mistaken for Cockermouth Castle by Finberg, see Introduction. The view here is similar to Tate D07531; Turner Bequest CX 19, for which see note. However the road or track beside the river is seen here in the immediate foreground, the bridge is glimpsed at right and wooded ground rises more steeply to the left.
Verso:
Blank. Laid down.
