London Arts in Health Forum (LAHF) in association with Tate Modern Community Learning is delighted to launch the first London Creativity and Wellbeing Week, taking place across the capital 13–20 June 2012. The week will highlight the work of organisations which use the arts to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

To Save our Lives
AL Kennedy is the author of 12 books: five novels, five books of short stories and two books of non-fiction. Her latest novel The Blue Book was published in 2011. She also writes for the stage, radio, film and TV and a number of national and international newspapers. She has won a number of awards including the Costa Prize, a Lannan Award and the Austrian State Prize for International Literature. She has twice been included in the Granta list of Best of Young British Novelists. Her work is translated into over 20 languages. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. AL Kennedy also performs in a variety of media including stand-up comedy.
AL Kennedy said: 'I'm both very happy and honoured to be involved with the London Creativity and Wellbeing Week. The UK's creativity and wellbeing is being threatened more severely than it has at any time since World War II. Meanwhile, entirely uncreative ‘solutions’ are being offered to, quite often, the wrong ‘problems’. A week for practitioners and interested parties to gather, encourage and inspire can only be a good thing.’
The lecture will explore her experiences in working with vulnerable people and how this has shaped her view of art as vital for community health and wellbeing.
