The Hon. Dorothy BRETT b. 1883

Painter of figure subjects. Born 10 November 1883 in London, daughter of Reginald Brett, 2nd Viscount Esher. Studied at the Slade School 1910–16. Exhibited at the N.E.A.C. from 1914. Was a friend of Mark Gertler; also of D. H. Lawrence and went out to New Mexico with him and his wife in 1924; has lived there ever since, painting subjects from Indian life. Retrospective exhibition at the American British Gallery, New York, 1950.
