This sculpture was previously catalogued as 6096 and described in error as having been transferred to the Tate Gallery in 1952. The artist wrote to the Gallery on 8 September 1957:
‘Man with a Bird’, a very early work in marble...I suppose it made its way to the Tate, and I rather wish it hadn't.
