This Symposium examines the contemporary art exhibition in a global context by considering three case studies from 1989, a pivotal year for both art and politics: ‘Magiciens de la Terre’ at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, ‘The Other Story’ at the Hayward Gallery, London, and the third Bienal de La Habana. The event will open with a keynote speech by Sarat Maharaj, and the other speakers will include Thomas Boutoux, Sonya Boyce, Jean Fisher, Cuauhtemoc Medina and Gerardo Mosquera.
