Welcoming home a masterpiece

The Tate Collective Producers have teamed up with Aspire to host a modern take on the classic British fete. Celebrating the acquisition of one of John Constable’s most recognised works, Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows 1831, the fete will explore a variety of modern responses through sound, film, workshops and more to one of the most significant recent additions to the nations collection.

Carleen de Sozer X Tate Collective Producers X Salisbury Museum’s Young Producers

Widely regarded as one of London’s most skilled and diverse aerosol and airbrush artists, Carleen de Sozer is collaborating on a spray-painting performance with the Tate Collective Producers and Salisbury Museum’s Young Producers.

Octavia Poets

Octavia is a Poetry Collective for Womxn of Colour founded by poet, Rachel Long. Join for bespoke poems in response to Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows.

Words, Strings, Streams, Lines …

Interact and contribute to the Feminist Library’s bunting installation celebrating feminist writing, herstories and activism. The installation will be accompanied by zines and magazines from the library’s archive.

Frenemy Collage

Public spats between rival artists are nothing new. John Constable was throwing shade at another famous British artist, JMW Turner, over 180 years ago, dissing his work as just a load of 'steam and light'. Join us to create a collage exploring artistic rivalry.

Playing Up

Playing Up is a game for kids and adults to play together. Join a playful, hands-on introduction to live art that encourages children’s creativity, confidence and imagination.

Rainbow Raffle

You can’t have a Fete without a raffle. Get your free ticket from the stall to win a variety of prizes representing the rainbow in Constable’s famous work.

Fire and Water: Turner and Constable in the Royal Academy 1831

Fire and Water marks the return of John Constable’s Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows to Tate and the end of its national tour through the Aspire programme. A chance to see this iconic painting and explore the rivalry between Turner and Constable.

Constable's painting Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows has recently been given a brand-new shiny gold frame. As this masterpiece is so large, expensive and important it needed a bespoke frame. Tate’s frames conservation expert Adrian Moore had to build it from scratch! The Tate Collective Producers went to interview him to find out how he did it
