Come join us in unearthing Tate Library and Archive’s mysterious side

Drawing from artists’ collections in the archive including those of Eileen Agar, Maxwell Armfield and Ithell Colquhoun this display will feature books, drawings and photographs delving into themes of the occult, prophecies, hauntings, mediumship, spiritualism, and the paranormal. The display will also include monographs and exhibition catalogues from the library collections exploring the occult and surrealism, depictions of the paranormal and mysticism from art history, as well as artist’s books, zines, photobooks, and material from the library’s special collections

There will also be a selection of artist designed Tarot cards from the library and archive collections with the opportunity to design your own card for our collaborative library and archive deck.

Material is selected by Holly Callaghan (Liaison Librarian) and Victoria Jenkins (Assistant Archive Curator).
