Pablo Bronstein discusses his site-specific continuous live performance Historical Dances in an Antique Setting, which takes inspiration from the neo-classical Duveen Galleries at Tate Britain and the artist’s interest in the Baroque period.
Biography
Pablo Bronstein (b.1977, Buenos Aires) lives and works in London. In addition to his Tate Britain Commission in 2016, the artist has also designed the set and costumes for a joint production of Joseph Haydn’s The Creation, re-enacted by companies Garsington Opera and Saddler’s Wells. In 2015 Bronstein had solo exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham and Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, as well as at the Museo Marino Marini, Florence and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. His work is currently exhibited as part of the touring 8th British Art Show (2015-2017) and collected by Thea Westreich Wagner and Ethan Wagner, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and Centre Pompidou, Paris. In 2013 König Books published a major monograph of the artist, A is Building B is Architecture.
