Join artist Steve McQueen to discuss Year 3

As the epic Year 3 project draws to a close, this is a unique chance to hear award-winning artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen reflect on the project’s creation, reception and legacy.

McQueen will be joined in conversation with the author, broadcaster and academic Gary Younge, and by Clarrie Wallis, curator of the Year 3 project at Tate Britain.

The event will be introduced by Anna Cutler, Director of Learning and Research at Tate.

Biographies

Steve McQueen

Steve McQueen is one of the most important artists, film-makers and screenwriters working today. Over the last 25 years McQueen has been influential in expanding the way in which artists work with film. He has been the author of some of the most seminal works of moving image designed for gallery-based presentation, as well as four films for cinematic release, Hunger (2008), Shame (2010), 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Widows (2018).

Gary Younge

Gary Younge is an award-winning author, broadcaster and academic based in London. Formerly a columnist at The Guardian, he has recently been appointed Professor of Sociology at Manchester University. He is the author of five books, and has made several radio and television documentaries on subjects ranging from gay marriage to Brexit.
