This free workshop is for those with an interest in mobile technology, collaboration, trail making, walking and landscape. Using the free Wander Anywhere App, Twitter, photography, video, audio and text functions on your mobile phone you will explore artistic fascination with ruination, the subject of the forthcoming Ruin Lust exhibition at Tate Britain.
Led by artist Ania Bas and Tate Curators, you will use the Tate Collection online and locative mobile device technologies to create a trail experience for you, your fellow workshop collaborators and other online users.
Get to grips with documentation tools and online sharing to map your physical and mental meanderings. Discover new ways to creatively explore landscape and a sense of place.
This workshop is part of Art Maps, a collaborative research project exploring art, place and mobile technology.
This event will involve going out on location, please let us know if you have any access requirements.
This workshop requires you to use your own mobile device, using the GPS facility which will use your data allowance. Please do contact us in advance of the workshop if you would like to discuss this further.
Light refreshments of tea, coffee, fruit and biscuits will be provided.
Workshop programme
Day 1
Day 1 at Tate Britain: Includes intro to workshop and Art Maps, see the Ruin Lust exhibition, introduction to the Wander Anywhere App, explore Tate Collection in gallery and online, develop plan for day 2.
Day 2
Day 2 is a self-directed day: Independent group working, go to chosen location to plan and develop your trail. (NB: a member of the workshop team will be available by phone to answer questions).
Day 3
Day 3 at Tate Britain: come together to create your trail. Upload, test it and tidy trail.
Day 4
Day 4 you will go out on location in the morning. At Tate Britain in the afternoon: In the morning follow other groups trail. In the afternoon discuss experience of following other group’s trail and chance to refine own trail.
