Through careful selection of key works hear the story of Cezanne’s artistic development from young ambitious painter to pivotal figure of modern painting. You will also get behind-the-scenes insights into the planning and staging of the exhibition.
There will be an opportunity for audience questions and contributions after the talk.

Natalia Sidlina
Tate Modern’s Cezanne exhibition Curator Dr Natalia Sidlina has worked at Tate Modern as Curator, International Art, since 2015. A specialist in modernist émigré art, her research and curatorial practice address transcultural histories, connections, and global exchange of ideas of the early avant-garde in Eastern and Western Europe. Her recent exhibitions include Tate Modern’s Erik Bulatov: FORWARD (2018), Natalia Goncharova (2019) and Sophie Taeuber-Arp (2021) as well as Naum Gabo - Constructions for Real Life at Tate St. Ives (2020).
Michael Raymond
Since 2019 Michael Raymond has been Assistant Curator, International Art, at Tate Modern, where he works on collection displays, helped realize the touring exhibition Nam June Paik (2019) and curated the installation of Beuys’ Acorns by Ackroyd & Harvey. After studying history at the University of Sheffield, he worked at the British Museum on exhibitions including Hokusai (2017), Rodin and the Art of Ancient Greece (2018), and Manga (2019), and coordinated the Asahi Shimbun Displays.
All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.
The Starr Cinema is on Level 1 of the Natalie Bell Building. There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Nathalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.
- There is space for wheelchairs and a hearing loop is available.
- All works screened in the Starr Cinema have English captions.
- Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
