Drop in to participate in a live art intervention playfully exploring social marginalisation and capitalist exchange

As part of the fairground of art, politics and ideas, this experimental live art intervention explores the communities and ideas that are left at the margins of today’s economic exchange. It playfully challenges the representations of class and marginalisation in the contemporary moment, and subverts the nation’s desire for the consumption of poverty (as evident in television shows such as Benefit Street and Too Fat to Work).

Artist Kelly Green has collaborated with young people from Valleys Kids and Astor College to create a vibrant political response to class identity politics, through creatively engaging with ideas of the Fairground.

Roll up to have a cuppa and a chat at the inter-generational stall the Tea Cups, have a rave up with neon world leaders in The House of Horrors, or come and play a game with the fairground’s mascot, ChavRat, as part of the live interactive performances from Thursday to Saturday.

Emerging from a collaboration between Canterbury Christ Church University, artist Kelly Green, the Live Art Development Agency, Valleys Kids and Astor College.

This event is programmed by Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) and Valleys Kids, Tate Exchange Associates.
