Join writer Emily LaBarge and assistant curator Emma Lewis for an in-gallery conversation on Beatrice Hastings, the English writer and poet known to us from the fourteen paintings by Modigliani. Explore Hastings' work as an editor and critic, as well as her relationship to contemporary feminist writings.
Emily LaBarge is a writer based in London, where she teaches at the Royal College of Art. Amongst other publications, she has written for the LA Review of Books, Bookforum, The Guardian, Tate Etc., The Times Literary Supplement, esse arts + opinions and The Photographers' Gallery. She has given talks, lectures and readings at Camden Arts Centre, The Institute of Contemporary Arts, Cove Park, The Showroom, Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Art. Essays forthcoming on Sylvia Plath in The Bodies That Remain (Punctum Press/University of California, Santa Barbara, January 2018) and Mary Hurrell (Luminous Books, Autumn 2018).
Emma Lewis is Assistant Curator, Tate Modern, where she works on acquisitions, collection displays, and temporary exhibitions, including Wolfgang Tillmans: 2017.
