Display caption
The fluid composition of bold colours and sweeping black lines reflect the spontaneity Appel admired in children’s art. The central black configuration suggests a dog-like animal in profile. The printing technique of lithography produces a smooth, inky appearance, giving the impression that the vibrant colours have been allowed to seep across the sheet.
