The landscape, wrongly titled ‘Nutworth Common’ in the R.A. catalogue, was painted above Nutwith and Rooma Commons approaching Masham, Yorkshire (letter from the artist, 11 February 1960). The artist painted many other landscapes of the district around Masham.
