Stamped ‘J Charles’, the ‘J’ and ‘C’ in monogram, b.l. and inscribed ‘James Charles 80’ on reverse.
Pencil, irregular, 9 1/2×11 1/2 (24×29).
Presented by the artist's widow 1907.
The two studies of the boy's head are of the artist's son Cyril (b. 1891), and the girl's head below is of his daughter Dorice (b. 1890). This and No.2125 were made at East Ashling, Sussex.
