Display caption
Deacon describes himself as a fabricator rather than a sculptor. He believes that the word emphasises the physical process of manipulating materials. He began the ongoing series Art For Other People in 1982, often working on them in between larger projects. Including works in a variety of different materials, they are intended to be adaptable to different domestic environments. ‘You could take them anywhere; they could function anywhere’, Deacon has said.
