L’Osservatore Romano (‘The Roman Observer’) is the daily newspaper of the Vatican. It reports on world events from the point of view of the Catholic Church. For these works Ferrari took headlines from the Spanish language edition. He then added found images, many of which depict hell and punishment. Others show instruments of torture, the Argentine military and condom wrappers. Ferrari accused the Church of doing nothing to stop the murders and persecutions committed by Argentina’s military regime. These works compare this silence to the violence of its traditional belief in eternal punishment.
