Display caption
One New York critic described this work as 'restful and joyful', while continuing, 'we seem to have come in at the beginning of a disquieting drama between an upright and a reclining figure.' On the content of the picture Hodgkin has stated, 'It's just the interior of a bedroom. But as someone neatly put it, it's full of Friday night thoughts.'
