A study for the figure of Sam Bentley in Keene's illustration to Chapter 1 of ‘Sam Bentley's Christmas’, published in Once a Week 15 December 1860 (Vol. III, p.687). Bentley leans on the counter of Miss Moore's haberdashery shop to have a button sewn on his wristband.
