The nine prints of the complete set are individually titled: ‘Allegro Moderato Fireman's Parade’ 1974, ‘Central Park in the Dark Some 40 Years Ago’ 1974, ‘The Children's Hour’ 1974, ‘Largo to Presto’ 1974, ‘Aeschylus and Socrates’ 1975, ‘Calcium Light Night’ 1975, ‘Four German Songs’ 1975, ‘From Early Italian Poets’ 1975 and ‘Nettleton’ 1976. This set contains references to the life and works of Charles Ives. It was begun while Paolozzi was in Berlin in 1974 and printed at Advanced Graphics between 1974 and 1976. It was to have been published by Propyläen Verlag, Berlin, but Paolozzi took over the whole edition and published it himself. Paolozzi made imagery related to music and musical notation in this and other works of the mid 1970s. He used a vocabulary of shapes and patterns developed from earlier screenprints through wooden reliefs (especially the ceiling panels for Cleish Castle in Scotland, completed in 1975) and back to prints again in screenprints, woodcuts and etchings.
