Display caption
This series of prints illustrates Schütte’s propositions for architectural projects between 1980 and 2006, providing a retrospective of this aspect of his work. Some of these fanciful projects are the artist’s suggestions for existing typologies of building, including hangers, car parks, motels and brothels. Others address hitherto unacknowledged audiences: ‘Holiday Home for a Terrorist’, ‘Kangaroo Colony’ and ‘Hotel for the Birds’ all suggest spatial arrangements appropriate for their designated users. The latter project formed Schütte’s proposal for the Fourth Plinth project currently on view in Trafalgar Square.
