The sheet is subdivided into nine horizontal bands, with the reiterated embossed pastern going diagonally first in one direction, then in the other. The bands are separated by slightly larger lines of embossed pattern. The pattern creased is similar to the embossed patterns of a Braille script, although without the variations demanded by different combinations for letters of the alphabet. The plate was not inked.
