Catalogue entry

Though shown in isolation, these Venetian boats may have been observed in the Bacino off the Riva degli Schiavoni, the viewpoint for a series of views on adjacent pages. There are other studies of boats on folios 10 verso and 17 recto (D14507, D14519), and on folio 90 verso (D14652; Turner Bequest CLXXVI 86a).
Technical notes:
The glue used to repair a 35 mm tear to the bottom edge has darkened considerably. There is a prominent crease running across from the top of the tear.
