The drawing is continued on folio 25 recto opposite (D01501; Turner Bequest XL 23). Finberg identified the subject as Brecon,1 and thought that the preceding drawing (folios 23 verso–24 recto; D01498–D01499; Turner Bequest XL 21a–22) showed the same place. However, the present subject seems to be Aberystwyth, which Turner drew on other pages of this book: see folios 42 verso, 43 verso–44 recto, 58 verso–59 recto and 69 verso–70 recto (D01531, D01533–D01534, D01558–D01559, D01577–D01578; Turner Bequest XL 40a, 41a–42, 56a–57, 67a–68).
