Catalogue entry

On the page, used with the sketchbook inverted, are three sketches of the town of Bowes and Bowes Castle, just five miles from Barnard Castle (folio 55 verso; D25628). The top and middle sketches show the castle from the north-east with the parish church of St Giles and other buildings, and the narrow, winding River Greta to the left. At the bottom of the page is a rough sketch of these same buildings. There are views of Bowes Castle from the south on folios 4 verso and 5 of this sketchbook (D25531, D25532).
