Catalogue entry

Turner’s view to the south-west shows the castle on the right, the two bridge piers in the Tyne towards the left, and the tower of St Andrew’s church beyond them. This is one of a sequence of studies of Bywell between folio 81 verso (D12424) and folio 88 verso (D12438); for the history of the castle and bridge, see the entry for folio 81 verso.
