Catalogue entry

Turner shows the castle from across the Menai Strait with Mynydd Perfedd and Moel Eilio beyond. There are further drawings of Caernarvon on the versos of folios 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 (D01943, D01945, D01947, D01949, D01951). See also the slight sketch on folio 5 verso (D01917). This and the two following drawings, D01943 and D01945, were apparently made from a boat in the Strait; the remainder were drawn in the estuary of the Seiont, looking roughly west.
