Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner lightly worked of the roofline of Nantes onto this page. The large towered structure at the centre has been identified as the gothic cathedral, north of the River Loire.1 The cathedral recurs on several pages in this volume. For a list of these, see the sketchbook introduction.
