Catalogue entry

For Courmayeur, see folio 62 verso of this sketchbook (D04460). The various sketches made nearby in the book are listed with it. Some of the details of the town in this sketch may have been incorporated in Turner’s watercolour St Huges denouncing Vengeance on the Shepherd of Cormayer, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1803 (Sir John Soane’s Museum, London).1
