Catalogue entry

This is the last but one of a sequence of mostly unidentified landscape sketches, most of which run from folio 27 verso (D12355) to folio 33 recto (D12366); the last is on folios 51 verso–52 recto (D12386, D12387). As discussed in the entry for folio 27 verso, they are likely to show scenes on the moors and hills around Bowes, south-west of Barnard Castle.
A profile of distant hills runs across the centre, with the outline of a building in the middle distance to the left. There is a second skyline at the top right, which may be a continuation of the right-hand end of the main view.
Technical notes:
There is a short tear to the left of centre along the top edge. Slight, dark smudges are evident towards the lower right.
Verso:
Blank
