Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a view of a hilly riverside landscape close the Brittany town of Morlaix. Tate curator Ian Warrell has suggested that the study was taken a little to the north of Morlaix at the settlement of Locquénolé.1
