Catalogue entry

The harbour ‘Basin’ here may be at Folkestone, as suggested by aspects of the other half of the view on folio 14 verso opposite (D35512).
That subject, in relatively soft pencil, has been drawn over using a sharper line with a less coherent double-page sketch with buildings near the gutter on the opposite page linked below by arcing lines to the jagged silhouette of a building on the right here. It seems to be a loose variation of the view on folio 21 verso (D35525) showing the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame and Saint-Laurent at Eu, from the south-east; see under D35525 for related views.
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
